The studio

Not a class. Not guesswork. Real coaching.

Materna is a private strength studio for women who want expert coaching in a space made just for them.

Every session is coached. Every program is built around your body, your schedule and your stage of life — whether you're training for strength, rebuilding after a baby, or preparing for one. Small groups mean you get real attention, every rep.

Every stage of life

Planning, pregnancy, postpartum and every season after. Your training adapts as your life does.

In their words

Real women. Real change.

“Before starting with Laura, my entire identity was ‘just a mom.’ Through Laura's coaching and mentoring, I learned that I am so much more than that… She showed me how to put myself first and not feel guilty about it.”

— Taylor

“Laura is such a supportive coach — not only in fitness but in life. She understands the mom life work balance and even when I stumble she is always there to help me get back on track. She is the real deal.”

— Rebecca H.

“Laura is not only an AMAZING coach, but she is incredibly kind and incredibly genuine. Whether you are a mom or an athlete, Laura is always there for you.”

— Sydney M.

Laura Postor

Gym ownership isn't new to Laura. She built and owned three Seattle-area gyms, Big Iron Gym, where she created the Big Iron Babe community — empowering women to feel strong and capable in male-dominated spaces.

She's also a women's strength coach, perinatal corrective exercise specialist, nutrition coach, IFBB Pro athlete and a doula with more than a decade supporting women through pregnancy, postpartum and everything in between — and a mother of three.

“The work is not about bouncing back. It's about building something real.”

Materna is the next chapter: a studio built for women from the ground up, with the expertise, structure and care every woman deserves — at every stage of life.

FAQ

Good questions.

Do I need lifting experience?

No. Every program starts where you are. Whether you've never touched a barbell or you've been lifting for years, you'll be coached through every movement.

Can I train while pregnant?

Yes — training through pregnancy is a core part of what we do. We ask that you have clearance from your healthcare provider, and your program adapts as your pregnancy progresses and into postpartum.

Is Materna only for moms?

Not at all. Materna is for women at every stage of life. Our perinatal expertise is one part of what we offer — the Functional Strength and Hot Girl Summer tracks are for any woman who wants to get strong.

What does semi-private mean?

You train in a small group of four or fewer, but you each follow your own program. You get the energy of training alongside other women with the attention of a personal coach.

When do you open, and how much is membership?

We're targeting a Fall 2026 opening. Membership details go to the waitlist first, so join to be the first to know.
